TVNZ runs New Zealand’s largest free ad-supported streaming platform, TVNZ+, and this session shows how they use the Lakehouse and ZeroBus to turn real-time data into more relevant viewer experiences and faster, better business decisions.
Personalised viewer experiences:
ZeroBus gives TVNZ a real-time identity and event backbone, reducing identity latency from 24 hours to under 5 seconds and providing fresher information for recommendations, audience experiences, and downstream activation. That foundation supports TVNZ’s broader personalisation capabilities, helping the business deliver more relevant viewer experiences and richer audience understanding over time.
Better business decision-making:
The same real-time data foundation also lets TVNZ move from stale reporting to live operational insight. Instead of relying on a daily batch process into Power BI, TVNZ can calculate live viewership insights every few seconds, make them available through Lakebase, and surface them in Databricks Apps for near real-time consumption. That allows teams to monitor audience behaviour as it happens, reduce reliance on legacy reporting patterns, and make more data-driven decisions across content, commercial, and operational use cases.
