As our data platform scaled, teams increasingly faced challenges with shared workspaces, configuration drift, manual setup steps, unclear ownership boundaries, and inconsistent developer experiences. To address these issues, we developed Data Product Rooms—a config-driven, versioned, and modular blueprint for creating isolated, governed, and reproducible environments on our Databricks-based platform.
This session introduces Data Product Rooms as a scalable design pattern that abstracts platform complexity while strengthening governance and improving delivery speed. We will walk through the core architectural layers—identity, compute, access, security, DevOps integration, and governance—and show how these come together in a consistent Infrastructure-as-Code model. Attendees will learn how Data Product Rooms create predictable environment structures, reduce operational overhead, enhance cost transparency, and enable teams to onboard and deliver faster. We will also outline the current status of the initiative and how this blueprint will support a growing portfolio of data products across the organization.
